Facing the wide street of Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood, this market/cafe is in a quiet and laid back neighborhood.  There are other places to eat lunch, sip on coffee, or to just sit outside to enjoy the sun, but what sets Hunger Market Cafe apart from the rest is the many fresh hearty choices you can make.  The deli/cafeteria-like cafe offers a $8 combination platter, which comes with an entree such as baby back ribs with two sides such as mac 'n cheese and cold salad concoctions picked from the Farmer's Market.  There are also baked goods like sandwiches, or peanut butter jelly bars. The market side has an intensive collection of beverages in the self-serve fridges like Evolution, and jars of  olive oil, spices, honey, and fruit confits on the shelves.  The shop is very spacious despite the many supplies it offers, and of course, it has outdoor seating.

The macarons available here are shipped from San Francisco.  There were half a dozen choices, all small and shiny.  Each were $1.75.

OVERALL:
  • 1½ inch in diameter
  • Stuffed inside- no air pockets
  • Hard shell with a sheen

DETAILS:
ORANGE
White outer shell with a very light translucent orange glaze on top.  Filling is sweet aromatic orange marmalade.

ESPRESSO
The outer surface has somewhat a bitter espresso glaze, and the inside has a contrasting sweet subtle mocha cream.

VANILLA
It has the most simplest flavor yet.  Light crunchy outer with a vanilla and almond creamy filling.

CONCLUSION:
Has a firm shell, and the inside is slightly chewy and center is creamy.  What's memorable with these macarons are more so about the texture than their flavors.
