HELLO

REPORTING ON DUTY!

so here i am, a macaron fan of course, blogging my first entry about my macarons expedition in los angeles. it's like being a pirate, looking for these tiny treasure-like morsels all around town. it may be a sugar overload adventure, but i am determined!!

history says, a pastry shop called ladurée on champs-élysées of paris began this crazy wave of macaron trend throughout paris. soon other cities such as london and tokyo caught on, and i feel it has finally recently arrived in the city of angeles!  one of the first shops was boule, in west hollywood, and has recently retired, but i believe it has opened up the macaron-loving hearts of angelinos.

some places like ladurée would spell theirs "macaroon", with two o's instead of one, but usually macaroons with two o's are referred to the ones with coconut in them, as the image below.

macarons on the other hand, are meringues made with ground almonds sandwich-ing yummy fillings often with ganache, buttercream, and/or jam.
there are more than a handful of bakeries and coffee shops that offer traditional macarons to innovative and one-of-a-kind macarons. from ones as small as a your thumb to ones as big as your palm, it's so much fun finding these delicious cute delectables.
