Not many people know that the macarons sold at the Paris Bakery in Westwood, and the macarons sold at the Viktor BenĂªs Bakery & Coffee Bar of Gelsons Market in Marina Del Rey are exactly the same.  These macarons are made by chef Xuan Ngo from Placentia, CA, whom also specializes in artisan chocolates.  Each macaron is $1.95 in either locations.

OVERALL:
  • about 1½"-2" in diameter
  • appealing velvety appearance
  • thin shell, lightly chewy

DETAILS:
CARAMEL
Light pumpkin orange colored outer is chewy.  Inside is buttery caramel that melts right in your mouth.

BLACKBERRY
LIght violet colored exterior, also chewy.  FIlling is sweet subtle blackberry jam.

PASSION FRUIT
Yellow-orange outer color is slightly crunchy and chewy.  The cream inside is tangy passion fruit.

MY FAVORITE:
Passion fruit and caramel.

CONCLUSION:
The outer layer has a great consistency: light crust, moist and chewy inside.  The cream fillings would be better if they were more flavorful and/or aromatic.
